Chinese Seagrass Natural Rug Series

The Chinese Seagrass Natural rug is a traditional half-panama weave with a fine weft yarn crossing over four heavier warp yarns. Seagrass fibers are highly abrasion resistant, and generally have a fairly long life becoming more comfortable as time passes. The fibers used in our weaves are not dyed, and their natural hues range from sage greens to light tans.

This weave is suitable for area rugs, but not for wall-to-wall applications, as seagrass tends to shrink and expand with changes in humidity. The broadloom is backed with a latex backing which adds dimensional stability to the weave, and makes further padding unnecessary.

In addition, small variances in color are common in natural fiber materials. Differences in growing climate and conditions from year to year produce plants with slightly different characteristics.
