We begin with the long, evenly-colored sisal fibers of East African (Kenya and Tanzania) Agave Sisalana. The extracted fibers are dried and carefully graded at the source. We choose only the best sisal with fiber lengths of one meter or more. The fibers are then spun using the exclusive Katani Bora spinning system which ensures strong, even sisal yarns.
The rug is then woven in Belgium using yarns of varying thickness to create a distinctive wavy texture. The sophisticated pattern is difficult to weave, and very few mills have the ability to create a sisal rug like this.
